its no secret that i enjoy horror/macabre photographs, so naturally that's the first category i look at every day to see what's new. when i browse around, i hope to find pieces that give me the chills or at the very least disturb me to some degree. but there are many times when i'm browsing that i come across some photos labeled in the category that don't seem "horrifying." what i mean by this is photos that are seemingly more fashion than disturbing, like they incorporate horrific themes, such as jewelry or even makeup, but it almost seems like its more about the fashion look than what the picture is supposed to represent. now don't get me wrong, they are beautiful photos. but what bothers me a little is this: if something is labeled "horror/macabre," shouldn't it at least give off sense of fear or let you feel disturbed? if its more about the fashion, shouldn't it be labeled AS fashion? personally, i don't feel like if i slap on some dark makeup around my eyes and wear dark clothing in a runway style that it should be considered horrifying. people do indeed have opinions of their own and have every right to, but to me i just feel like it takes away from the horror category. i mean if it doesn't cause a sense of fear or whatnot, then how can you label it as horror?
just my thoughts. i have time on my hands late at night lol
